Is lazy coding a cybersecurity problem?

People with basic coding skills are able to hack things like their car. In one case, a coder hacked his Hyundai by googling some code that engineers copy-pasted.

You might be surprised to learn that copy-pasting code is more common than you think. There are only so many ways you can efficiently run certain functions and sharing code is one of the ways developers can keep their software compatible across platforms or operating systems.

But copy-pasting should be second to cybersecurity, especially when it comes to expensive products we use every day, like cars or laptops. First, because of consumer safety. The idea of anyone being able to hack your car using code they found on google is scary.

Young people are more tech-savvy, so we’ll probably see a lot more coders running around the internet, and who knows what they might get up to– even by accident. A little coding knowledge could get you in a lot of trouble.
