YouTube Description
as posted by the channelWe now have machines that can read our minds- you heard that right. There are now mind-reading machines using cameras and AI to analyze facial muscles, expressions, and movements of our faces and break down what we're thinking at any given moment. And these machines also analyze the quality of people's voices when interpreting what people are thinking.
Obviously, this brings up a lot of concerns about how this technology can be used against anybody. Right now in China, high-ranking members of the Communist Party must routinely use a similar machine so that the party can confirm their loyalty. Yikes. And let's take this a step further- and this might sound like I should be wearing a tinfoil hat, but seeing our phones, right, they have cameras and microphones, and they're already tracking a lot of our activity.
So, it's not hard to imagine how these mind-reading machines could eventually be a part of our phones. However, it's not all bad news, I swear. Synchron, a startup based in Brooklyn, recently implanted a chip with similar technology that will help a patient with ALS communicate by translating his thoughts into texts. That's good news. Hopefully, we'll see more positive uses for this technology as it continues to develop.
