First: flights are 40% more expensive than they were in January 2022. Airlines have a lot of market power. We only really have four major airlines in America. Somehow mergers were allowed that are costing us billions of dollars a year.
Next, you often have little choice when traveling, and often one airline controls the airport where you live. If you live in Houston, it's United. Charlotte, it's American. Atlanta, it's Delta. It's no wonder why prices are high; these airlines control these markets.
And finally, getting through security can be a major problem this time of year, as TSA wait times can be insane. I highly recommend TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, and clear to skip the lines. They have bailed me out for missing a flight multiple times. Good luck out there. See you at the airport.
