1:00Now PlayingThey're locking up random stuff at stores and it's making customers very angry. Have you noticed that CVS and Walgreens are now locking up your favorite products? It's really annoying, and it's turning off lots of buyers. But why are they doing this, to begin with? Retail theft is way up in recent years, that's why.
And it's now reported to be a $100 billion problem. Walgreens says it's losing 50% more to theft now than it did before 2020. I'll admit sometimes when I'm at the store, I give up and order the product on Amazon, while I'm looking at it.
And in the end, the stuff they lock up doesn't make much sense. I've seen them lock up a shampoo with a certain scent and not the same one with a different scent– bizarre, to say the least.
And my corner pharmacy, CVS, already isn't in the best condition, and locking up stuff is probably only going to accelerate its demise as people like me just start ordering more online.
