YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe newest way for businesses to make money? Subscriptions. Whether you have a doorbell or a car, just buying it might not be enough to keep it working. You may also have to pay for an ongoing subscription. And we've already seen this happen with software for years, but now cars are in the mix.
Tesla, Mercedes and Audi are selling different features locked behind a subscription paywall. Yeah, you heard that right. And it doesn't stop there. Ring, the popular camera company/doorbell owned by Amazon, announced that users will lose access to the "Home and Away" feature on their Ring app starting on March 29th unless they pay $3.99 / month or $40 / year.
Remember the olden days? Those were nice. Where you could buy a product and use it for as long as it lasted. A high-quality product could last you for decades or even longer. Now, you'll probably be paying a subscription for as long as you use it.
