Still, new problems have emerged with extremism and censorship, as Twitter stopped moderating hate and blocked substack posts recently. Also, Elon thinks Twitter can replace the media and is fighting journalists. Let's face it, that's probably not a good idea and will limit Twitter's potential.
And there were long-standing issues from the get-go; Twitter was always simultaneously amazing and very toxic. It's great for the latest on a breaking news story but also a depressing reflection of our dysfunction.
People are under the impression that being a Twitter troll is a good thing for your career, and that is definitely debatable. Twitter is a part of the culture, but will it stay that way? Or will it go the way of MySpace? Who knows.
Elon has a great track record for turning around companies, but advertisers and users remain skeptical of the future of the digital world's public square.
