So, Earth Day is coming up again, and it's a perfect time for our media, politicians and the so-called environmentalists to once again remind you about how the world is about to end unless we do whatever they say and give them more power over our lives.

This is a common theme, of course; since the 1970s, every single year, they keep telling you that we're headed toward the apocalypse. And when that doesn't happen, they just reset the doomsday clock, that's how it works.

You can go back and check out the articles, they're all online, from the New York Times, The Washington Post, the Associated Press, Time Magazine, and many others, warning that global cooling will lead to the end of mankind as we know it.

When that turned out not to be true, those same media outlets, as well as numerous government-sponsored scientists, and so-called public, intellectuals flipped the script and shifted the focus to acid rain, then pollution, then depletion of the ozone layer, then overpopulation, then excessive resource consumption, and, finally, they settled on global warming, which became the primary existential threat to humanity.

And by 2005, you had the United Nations warning that there will be, quote, "up to 50 million environmental refugees by the end of the decade." In 2006, former Vice President Al Gore warned that quote, "Humans may have only 10 years left to save the planet from turning into a total frying pan."

In 2009, the former senator and current presidential climate envoy, John Kerry, cited two unnamed scientists to declare that arctic ice was melting so fast the Arctic could be ice-free by the summer of 2013. But once again, none of these things ended up happening. The only thing that's been rapidly melting is John Kerry's face.

So here's the truth: Our climate is always fluctuating. Our planet has undergone periods when it was far hotter and significantly colder than it is today. The United Nations, by its own estimates, says that by the year 2100, the globe could warm by one to two degrees.

But this isn't actually cause for panic. Humanity has already experienced a one-degree increase in global temperature over the past century, and during that time, we have witnessed the greatest improvement in human well-being in history, and the world's population quadrupled.

So yes, the climate is changing; it always has it always will. But it's not an existential threat to humanity, and it's about time we stopped listening to the same fear-mongering alarmists who have been wrong about every single thing for the last 50 years.
