Michael Figgis was born in England on February 28, 1948. He is a screenwriter, director, and composer from England. In 1995, he was nominated for two Academy Awards for his performance in Leaving Las Vegas.
A network of independent filmmakers was formed online while filming was underway. Figgis was the organization's first sponsor. He was raised in Nairobi, Kenya, till the age of eight. He was born in Cumberland's Carlisle. Newcastle was where he spent the rest of his childhood and teenage years.
