February 6th was, for the most part, a fairly quiet and standard Monday in London. The tube was filled with daily commuters and tourists clogged the pavement. It was also a very significant day in British history, as HM Queen Elizabeth II has become the first British monarch in history to reach her Blue Sapphire Jubilee, marking 65 years since her accession to the throne. While HM decided to keep the affair quiet, preferring to spend her day in quiet contemplation and remembrance of her father, King George VI, the day could not have been allowed to pass without proper honours being rendered.

So the King's Troop rode out to Green Park in all its splendour with a battery of six guns, choosing to salute Her Majesty and remember her father with a gun salute. Being on a Royal Park, they fired off an additional twenty rounds for a full 41-Gun Salute. Then, just as quickly as they had deployed for action, the guns were limbered up and pulled from the field. -
