On a recent trip to a museum, I saw something fascinating: A concentration camp uniform with...pockets! It may not sound like much at first, but...why? Why did the uniform have something that would have actively aided a prisoner's survival? Why would the SS specifically use extra manpower and materials to improve the quality of an item intended to be worn by a population intended to be exterminated? Asking these questions set me on a fascinating path of research, and speaks to many different topics within this wider, terrible history.
