The Atlantic Wall is often held up, even to a perverse degree, as the ultimate in modern defensive works. It was a mega engineering project of extraordinary scope- and yet, in this video, I argue that the entire project was rather doomed from the very start. Not to say that it was useless, mind you, or that it didn't make things awfully awkward for the Allies...but, it certainly didn't wind up as anything close to what the Germans were hoping it would be!
