~~Video Description~~
There are an awful lot of portrayals of the First World War in film, and very few of them are actually any good. So too with war films overall! Many of them simply fail to capture the scale of warfare, both literally and figuratively, and end up "biting off more than they can chew"! Imagine my surprise, then, when I found what I'd consider possibly the single greatest portrayal of the First World War in a movie that isn't even a war film! In just a four minute sequence, this 1933 film called Cavalcade captures more emotional range and portrays the history of the war better than most do in two plus hours!

The scene in question begins at 01:16:28 but I recommend watching the full film to appreciate the context it is placed in, which adds a lot.
