Ethiopia, Nicaragua & Rittenhouse: Reality Upside-Down

Last week most corporate media outlets were decrying Ethiopia’s war on entho-nationalist extremists, the TPLF, as the conflict entered its second year. But now that the TPLF is mobilizing to march on Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, many in the West are moving swiftly to reframe their narrative. Having previously portrayed the Tigrayan paramilitary group as downtrodden underdogs facing down genocide, the goal posts have shifted to keep the blame on Ethiopian President Abiy Ahmed. Ethiopian-American journalist Hermela Aregawi breaks down the latest escalation in what has long been a full blown civil war. We will also be joined by Bob Schlehuber, peacebuilder and host of radio show Political Misfits, who has just returned from Ethiopia.

Lexis Figuereo, organizer with Saratoga BLM, goes over the death of Darryl Mount, a Black man who was chased by police and allegedly fell to his death, according to police. The city has elected Public Safety Commissioner Jim Montagnino, who has pledged to release a full report on what happened the night of Mount’s death in 2013.

Harjeet Singh, senior advisor on climate impacts for Climate Action Network International, reports on what has happened so far at climate meeting COP26, what must happen to avoid further global catastrophe, and on the massive protests that have rocked Glasgow.
