The United States is planning to yet again invade and occupy Haiti. For nearly a month, hundreds of thousands of Haitians have protested across the country opposing foreign intervention and the neo-colonial government of de facto Prime Minister Ariel Henry. What’s next for Haiti and the Haitian peoples’ centuries-long struggle against incessant colonial-style interventions, occupations and sanctions? Is a second Haitian Revolution on the horizon? The Ethiopian government made significant advances this week against the US-backed Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front, which violently ruled Ethiopia for 30 years and has since been at war with the government. Oklahoma has executed more people per capita than any other state in the country, and 25 executions are set to occur nearly every month through 2024. A new report from the Death Penalty Information Center further exposes what has been clear since its formation: the Oklahoma death penalty is racist. Deputy Director Ngozi Ndulue discusses the report and how the application of the death penalty in Oklahoma uniquely impacts the Black and Indigenous populations.
