City in Iowa Demolishing Collapsed Building with Black Residents Feared Still Inside

Officials of Davenport, Iowa are trying to demolish a predominantly-Black apartment complex while residents may still be inside.

After the building partially collapsed, officials missed one trapped resident in what tenants call a “failed rescue” before calling off the search entirely.

Now tenants say two more residents are still unaccounted for, but the city plans to go ahead with the demolition anyway.
