YouTube Description

as posted by the channel

The Government of Colombia and the guerrilla forces of the National Liberation Army (ELN) signed an agreement on February 5 to extend the bilateral ceasefire for six months. Founded in 1964, the ELN is the longest-lived armed insurrection group in South America, and has a Marxist-Leninist ideology.

Luis de Jesus Reyes, BreakThrough News correspondent in Havana, spoke with Pablo Beltrán, an ELN commander and head of the guerrilla delegation, about why it has been so hard to achieve a lasting peace so far, whether the prospects have improved under the Petro administration, and his view of US designs in the region.
