On The Freedom Side LIVE, Thursday, 3/27 at 3pm ET/12pm PT, hosts Rania Khalek and Eugene Puryear are joined by special guests:

Grant Miner, expelled and fired Columbia student and president of the Student Workers of Columbia-UAW, joins the show to discuss Trump’s escalating attacks on students. Miner was fired the day before UAW contract negotiations with the university were set to begin, and just days after ICE agents abducted Mahmoud Khalil from campus.

Macklemore, musician and Executive Producer of the new documentary ‘The Encampments,’ joins the show to discuss the upcoming film. In theaters March 28th, the film follows Mahmoud Khalil, Grant Miner and the Columbia student encampment for Gaza that kicked of an international student movement against Israel’s genocide nearly one year ago.

Brian Goldstone, author of There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America, joins the show to discuss the alarming new epidemic of full-time workers falling into homelessness. Goldstone argues skyrocketing rents, low wages, and weak tenant protections are making the “working homeless” the new face of the nation’s housing crisis.

Mosaab Baba, a Sudan researcher, joins the show to discuss the ongoing civil war as it reaches its two year anniversary. Baba will discuss the Sudanese Armed Forces’ recent recapture of Khartoum’s presidential palace from the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces after intense fighting, the humanitarian crisis of the war that has killed over 150,000 people, left 12.9 million people displaced and nearly 25 million facing acute hunger.

Murat Akad, a member of the Communist Party of Turkey’s Party Council, joins the show to discuss the mass anti-Erdoğan protests erupting across Türkiye against the AKP’s crackdown on democratic freedoms. Akad will discuss the violent police response to the protests, the home raids and mass arrests, and escalation of punishment against mass dissent.
