YouTube Description
as posted by the channelOn The Freedom Side LIVE, Thursday, 7/24 at 3pm ET/12pm PT, hosts Rania Khalek and Eugene Puryear are joined by special guests:
Layan Sima Fuleihan, Education Director at The People’s Forum and an editor at 1804 Books, joins the show to discuss Israel’s starvation of Gaza, a nearly 80-day blockade that has entered a deadly new phase. Israeli and US forces have massacred over 1,000 Palestinians seeking aid, children are dying from malnutrition and people are collapsing in the streets from hunger. Fuleihan breaks down the crisis, the US movement for Gaza and an urgent need for the world to stop Israel.
Jacob Silverman joins the show to discuss the three major cryptocurrency bills passed by the House during what Trump dubbed “Crypto Week.” Silverman will explain how the largely unregulated crypto industry is now deeply enmeshed with Trump’s most corrupt dealings, as the administration dismantles financial safeguards to enrich the first family and its tech and finance allies while destabilizing the economy.
Alice Kisiya, a Palestinian Christian activist from Beit Jala, joins the show from the occupied West Bank as violence by Israeli settlers and the IDF escalates. Kisiya will discuss her family’s resistance to Israel’s forcible seizure of their land amid a wave of settler attacks, including the killing of a 20-year-old Palestinian-American man, who was beaten to death by settlers near Ramallah last week.
Lawrence Grandpre, Director of Research at Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, joins the show to discuss how the Democratic establishment weaponizes the myth of the “conservative Black moderate” to sideline progressives and shift the party to the center, even as Zohran Mamdani’s victory upsets this narrative. Grandpre will also discuss how the left’s failure to build independent Black political power and its neglect of Black grassroots violence prevention could harm progressive campaigns beyond liberal strongholds like New York City.
Mahjoub Maliha of the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) joins the show to discuss Morocco’s decades-long occupation of Western Sahara, known as Africa’s last colony, and the growing backlash to former South African President Jacob Zuma’s recent visit to Rabat, where he recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the territory. Maliha will discuss Morocco’s grave human rights abuses against the Sahrawi people and the global struggle for Western Sahara’s liberation from Western-backed colonial rule.
