Grandpre will also discuss how the left’s failure to build independent Black political power and its neglect of Black grassroots violence prevention could harm progressive campaigns beyond liberal strongholds like New York City.

Mahjoub Maliha of the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) joins the show to discuss Morocco’s decades-long occupation of Western Sahara, known as Africa’s last colony, and the growing backlash to former South African President Jacob Zuma’s recent visit to Rabat, where he recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the territory. Maliha will discuss Morocco’s grave human rights abuses against the Sahrawi people and the global struggle for Western Sahara’s liberation from Western-backed colonial rule.
