0:59Now PlayingA Texas State tenured professor was fired for remarks he gave to a socialist conference.
Prof. Tom Alter sued the school for violating the First Amendment and tenure policies, and had won a temporary reinstatement in September. The firing was opposed by local elected officials, the professors’ union and free speech advocates nationwide as a form of 21st century McCarthyism.
The remarks that led to his firing were selectively edited by a far-right troll Karlyn Borysenko, who recently tweeted “Hitler went to heaven.”
