Students in Charlotte walked out of classes to protest “Operation Charlotte’s Web,” the Trump administration’s anti-immigrant crackdown launched over the weekend on North Carolina’s biggest city.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said more than 30,000 students were absent across the district on Monday. Reports of federal agents using extreme force, detaining observers and rapid responders, and racially profiling landscapers, construction workers and Home Depot customers have fueled demonstrations across the city since Saturday.
