Leftist presidential candidate Roberto Sánchez said Tuesday he would not accept the result of Peru’s runoff election and pointed to voting fraud as far-right rival Keiko Fujimori, daughter of the country's former dictator Alberto Fujimori, held a narrow lead of 50.11% to 49.89% with nearly all votes counted as of early Tuesday.

Sánchez, who is popular in rural areas and among Peru’s Indigenous population, demanded the electoral authority stop the vote count, alleging irregularities in votes cast abroad that heavily favored Fujimori, and called on voters to march against the electoral authority on Saturday.
