Spontaneous protests at the site of the shooting in Biddeford, Maine have spread to cities across the US, joining calls for justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, the Houston man killed by ICE last week, and reigniting mass demands for justice in the wake of more murders at the hands of federal agents.
Meanwhile the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday announced it would stop doing vehicle stops to “retrain” its agents to do so without killing. BT Live’s Zoe Alexandra and Rania Khalek on the Trump administration’s shifting anti-immigrant tactics to save face:
“We know that in January, in Minnesota, after the killing of Renée Nicole Good and then the murder of Alex Pretti on the street as well, this sparked a national uprising — and that is exactly what they want to avoid.”
