Police Officer Arrested For Being Drunk On The Job

Police bodycam video shows a police officer drunk and behind the wheel of a car.

Joe Marche, East Cleveland Police Detective, was found intoxicated and slumped over the wheel in an unmarked city car by Bratenahl, Ohio police.

According to police Marche locked the doors and was unwilling to get out of the car.

Eventually police had to break two windows before he attempted to put the SUV in gear.

Marche finally complied and they found a loaded automatic weapon in his police bag.

Anderson claims the case was never brought to the attention of Cleveland citizens and that they have a right to know.

"This is very concerning, it's disturbing, they are supposed to protect and serve us, and if you're riding around intoxicated, Lord knows what could he could have done," Anderson said.

East Cleveland Councilman Nathaniel Martin is also wondering why the case wasn't examined further. After all Marche had his driver's license suspended but was granted working driving privileges.

East Cleveland Police Department consulted with four other police departments to insure a 30 day suspension was appropriate.

Police also said that Marche has no other prior convictions and that he accidentally mixed prescription medication with alcohol.

"He accepted full responsibility, it was an error in judgment, and like I said, nobody feels worse that Joe Marche," said East Cleveland Commander Scott Gardner.
