Why do fascists and authoritarians gravitate toward epic hero narratives like Star Wars? In this video, I explore how simple stories of good versus evil, chosen heroes, and defeating a powerful enemy can reinforce authoritarian thinking when they're interpreted through that lens. We discuss why these narratives can become coping mechanisms, offering certainty, identity, and a fantasy of becoming the one person destined to save the world. This isn't about Star Wars itself being fascist. It's about why fascists are often drawn to these kinds of stories and what that says about the psychology behind authoritarian movements.
