Having An Excuse for the things you do is definitely one of the worst things you can do for yourself.
Once we start to create excuses for ourselves, we kind of lose the power that we have when making free choices. We lose the power to be in control of our choices and how it impacts our lives. We become mere hostages of the circumstances.
