It's not the focus motors, there's something about the electronics of the lenses that can't handle the autofocus calculations. Comparing the 16-55mm f2.8 vs bringing 2 primes the 18mm f2 and original 56mm f1.2 R lens that I just bought. Why I think that lens is better than all the new modern ones, despite its terrible autofocus.
