A routine departure from San Francisco International Airport turned into an uncomfortable exchange when the crew of Delta Flight 1384 requested departure without having the current ATIS. The tower controller questioned why the crew didn't have the latest airport information, while the pilots explained they hadn't had the opportunity to copy it during a busy taxi.
