But there is a big difference between the reality and interpretation by the world media. Contrary to what many people believe the military and Mubarak were not on the same team. Mubarak's intention to appoint his son as his successor, was an attempt to transform the military regime into a monarchy. When the demonstrations started the military saw an opportunity and welcomed it. In essence what happened was not a revolution. It was a military coup that used the protests as a justification to force Mubarak out of office in order to preserve the military regime. However the real question now is whether the coup will turn into a revolution.
