BAKU - Turkish ground forces on Wednesday crossed the border into Syria, while Turkish jets and artillery began pounding YPG positions. The operation, dubbed vaguely as “Peace Spring”, was a long time in the making but it commenced only after President Trump abruptly announced the exit of American forces in the region, which gave his Turkish counterpart the green light to strike at YPG forces - adding to the intensification of the Syrian battlespace.
