6:05Now PlayingMonica and Jen Baker never intended to become pig farmers. It all started with a few pot-bellied pigs and then they started raising rare heritage breeds of pigs. Together, they own and operate Horns and Hogs Homestead. Nestled in the heart of the rural countryside in Alberta, Monica and Jen raise their pigs in a humane, small-scale environment where they can roam outside.
They have encountered numerous obstacles, such as the significant loss of a crucial barn after a fire happened a few days before Christmas. However, their community came together to offer assistance wherever needed, providing Jen and Monica with the encouragement needed to continue their journey. Being a small-scale farmer is undeniably challenging, but this short documentary offers a brief yet touching look into the remarkable journey of these extraordinary women as they play a vital role in preserving the genetic biodiversity of the world's pig population.
