Experts say limits on gambling advertising are needed after a study revealed sports viewers were exposed to nearly three gambling messages a minute for online betting companies such as FanDuel. CBC’s Marketplace teamed up with researchers to measure the scale of online gambling advertisements in Canada and found that over seven sports broadcasts, viewers were exposed to gambling messages, including commercials, logos and sponsored segments for 20 per cent of the viewing time. Researchers and addiction counsellors call the advertising 'inescapable' and say regulators need to do more to protect children and those vulnerable to addiction.
