Although China has said this is because Canada is ‘dumping’ cheap canola exports into the Chinese market, it's widely believed that this move was in retaliation to a 100 per cent tariff Canada imposed on Chinese electric vehicles last year. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has responded by saying that the Liberals ‘couldn't care less’ about western Canadian industries.
