1:41Now PlayingThousands of Air Canada flight attendants are still striking, despite a federal labour board ruling that their defiance of a back-to-work order is “illegal”. While Ottawa hasn’t explicitly said what consequences await labour leaders for their resistance, fines and jail time have occurred in the past.
It’s how Canadian Union of Postal Workers president Jean-Claude Parrot landed in prison for three months back in 1979. The sentence came after he and other union leaders ignored back-to-work legislation that ordered postal workers back on the job without a deal with their employer.
