1:13Now PlayingAt the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation ceremony in Ottawa, attendees lifted a cloth bearing the names of hundreds of thousands of children who never returned home from residential schools in Canada. This year, an additional 1,143 names were added to the garment to remember the names.
CORRECTION (Oct. 16, 2025): A previous upload of this video included an incorrect description of the names listed on the memorial cloth. In fact, the cloth bears the names of thousands of Indigenous children who did not return from residential schools. This video has been corrected and reuploaded.
