Anthony Esolen was appearing on Fox & Friends to discuss his book on parenting when he launched into a sarcastic monologue about the need to keep children inside.
The nonplussed anchors quickly cut him off and ended the interview, leaving the impression they believed he was deliberately sabotaging the appearance.
Mr Esolen, a professor at Providence College in Rhode Island, was invited to the morning show to discuss his 2010 book Ten Ways to Destroy the Imagination of Your Child.
The book is a passionate attack on many of the trappings of modern life, particularly television, video games and keeping children inside."*
