Many, but not all, of the top candidates in the 33rd Congressional District will meet Saturday for an unusual debate that will be broadcast over the Internet.
Thirteen candidates will participate in the debate on the "The Young Turks" program, a Web series. It will be moderated by Cenk Uygur, a former Current TV and MSNBC commentator.
Candidates expected to debate include independent Marianne Williamson, Democrat Matt Miller and Republican Elan Carr. Two Democratic favorites — Torrance State Sen. Ted Lieu and former Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel — are not expected to attend.
Because there are so many participants, the candidates will be randomly split into groups. Essentially, there will be three separate debates, one after another.
The debate can be viewed at Saturday May 10th at 11am pacific / 2pm eastern
