Obama has named Marty Paone as his new deputy assistant for legislative affairs, the main Senate liaison under legislative affairs director Katie Beirne Fallon.
Paone is currently the executive vice president of Prime Policy Group, a lobbying firm. But his ties to the Senate date to 1979, when he served in the cloakroom for then-Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.). They also stretch to serving as secretary to the Democratic Caucus from 1995 through 2008.
