“In January of 2012, I was at 4 percent in the national polls, and I won the Iowa caucuses,” said Mr. Santorum, the former senator from Pennsylvania, who is now near the bottom of most national surveys. “I don’t know if I was last in the polls, but I was pretty close to last.”
Recalling well-funded candidates who flamed out from campaigns past, Mr. Santorum, talking with reporters after his address at a Republican conference in Oklahoma City, mocked a national polling standard."
