Jan 22, 20166:01Now PlayingWith the election drawing closer with each passing day, ESPN decided to put out a memo for their on-air talent. The memo outlined what the sports commentators can and can’t say on air. John Iadarola (ThinkTank), Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), and Jayar Jackson, hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Red Sox legend Curt Schilling has been benched by ESPN for a controversial comment he made on Twitter.
The retired pitcher compared Muslims to Nazis saying “It's said only 5 to 10 percent of Muslims are extremists. In 1940 only 7 percent of Germans were Nazi how did that go?"
The tweet included a picture of Adolf Hitler.
Schilling deleted the post almost immediately and quickly apologized.
But that didn't stop ESPN from pulling him from their Little League World Series broadcast.
ESPN released a statement saying "Curt's tweet was completely unacceptable and in no way represents our company's perspective. We made that point very strongly to curt and have removed him from his current little league assignment pending further consideration.””*
