“Olivia Newton-John’s boyfriend of nine years, Patrick McDermott, disappeared in June of 2005 while on an overnight fishing trip off the coast of San Pedro, California. The Coast Guard performed an exhaustive search of the area but in November 2008 declared that Newton-John’s boyfriend had probably drowned. Two months later, however, it was rumored that investigators had discovered that McDermott had faked his disappearance and was living in Mexico. Now, nearly 11 years later, DailyMail reports that those rumors were true, and Olivia’s former boyfriend has been found alive and well in rural Mexico, living with a new German girlfriend.
Australia’s Woman’s Day magazine reports that Olivia’s former boyfriend is living and working in the Mexican town of Sayulita according to private investigator Philip Klein. The first detective on the case was John Nazarian. He indicated he believes the reports, saying:
“It’s rumored he was with a German national. I spoke to people there [in Mexico]. The girl he was traveling with was described as having a German accent. To come up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat, and allegedly no one saw him fall off the boat, is the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
