“New York Times deputy Washington editor Jon Weisman announced Wednesday he was leaving Twitter after a spate of racist, anti-Semitic, and misogynistic attacks on him and his fellow Times employees.
Weisman said he forwarded several tweets from “Nazi anti-Semites” attacking his reporters on Twitter and sent them to Twitter support. Their response: “We see nothing here that violates our rules.”
Weisman cited two tweets that Twitter said didn’t violate the rules. Once called him a “k*ke,” the other told him he belonged “in the oven” (The accounts have since been suspended). “So I will be moving to Facebook where at least people need to use their real names and can’t hide behind fakery to spread their hate,” Weisman announced.”
