"Blake Shelton is apologizing for some racist and homophobic Tweets he sent out in 2010 and 2011 after coming under fire for them over the weekend.
As our cousin site Gossip Cop has reported, Shelton is currently in a lawsuit with In Touch after the publication published a cover story last year that claimed he was in rehab, despite the fact that he wasn’t. In another cover story last week, the mag published covered the controversy. The Tweets have since been deleted but Twitter users have screen grabbed of some of them...
Throughout the weekend, Twitter users were calling out the country singer using the hashtag #BlakeSheltonIsOverParty. Shelton was active on Twitter throughout the weekend, but did not address the issue until today. Using the platform, he gave the following statement:
“Everyone knows comedy has been a major part of my career and it’s always been out there for anyone to see. That said anyone that knows me also knows I have no tolerance for hate of any kind or form. Can my humor at times be inappropriate and immature? Yes. Hateful? Never. That said I deeply apologize to anybody who may have been offended.””*
