Sisters Annie and Ceci Cardelle, second-generation Americans of Cuban descent, decided to attend a rally hosted by Eric Trump in their hometown of Salisbury, North Carolina— after all, it’s not every day you get the chance to see the progeny of a bigoted gerbil putter around right before your very eyes. As supporters of Hillary Clinton, Annie, 23, decided to make “a bit of a statement,” she told Buzzfeed, penning the words “Latina Contra Trump” on a shirt in Sharpie. “Contra” means “against” in Spanish, a fact you would expect at least one single person on Team Eric Trump to know. Silly you.
Annie was nervous about debuting her shirt at the restaurant where the event was held, but she needn’t have been, since no one even noticed her protest. “I thought ‘contra’ was pretty clear, but I guess not,” she said.”
