"While in public Hillary Clinton praised Bernie Sanders throughout the primaries, behind the scenes the Clinton campaign really didn’t care for her Democratic rival.
In addition to mocking his millennial supporters as basement dwellers in a leaked audiotape, a recent release from Wikileaks shows an email from February 2016 in which a Clinton staffer sent an unflattering photo of Bernie Sanders to Brian Fallon and John Podesta.
The photo (seen below) shows the Vermont Senator sitting poolside with a pair of red swim trunks and no shirt chilling in the shade of a large umbrella.
The caption simply read: Bernie at the DSCC retreat.
Were they trying to mock him for skipping leg day? Or that he would sunburn easily (i.e. Burny Sanders)? Or were they making fun of him for living in the lap of luxury contrary to his message of going after millionaires and billionaires for buying elections?
It’s not entirely known what the context of the email is in, but given what we know from the July DNC leak, the Democratic National Committee, the Clinton campaign, and the media were no fans of Bernie Sanders and his revolution. They were looking for any way to discredit, undermine, or even downright attack the Democratic socialist.
From earlier this month, a Wikileaks email release revealed that the Clinton campaign were prepared to attack Sanders as being anti-woman and a sexist. They were also looking to bash his plan for “free stuff,” which is ironic because now the Clinton campaign has adopted many of his policies and view Sanders as a strong ally.
For now, Bernie needs to work on those calf raises.”*
