"President-elect Donald Trump should be taken symbolically, not literally, according to a member of his transition team.
In an interview Tuesday, MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle pressed Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci Tuesday about the idea that the president-elect should be taken seriously, but not literally — a message promoted by the likes of former campaign manager Corey Lewandowksi and billionaire transition adviser Peter Thiel.
“No, no, no, no, don’t take him literally, take him symbolically,” Scaramucci responded.
“You should definitely take him seriously because he’s a man of his word, but I do think that some of the things that happen with the media is when he’s sending out tweets or he’s speaking in a certain way that sets the hair on fire of the nation’s media — particularly the left-leaning media — I think his supporters see that more as symbolism and a rejection of sort of that egg and tomato throwing that he’s experienced from June of 2015 when he announced his campaign,” Scaramucci continued.
Scaramucci called Trump a “very precise, very detail-oriented guy" and said he cancelled a planned press conference to address the future of his business holdings because he wanted to be able to answer all of reporters' questions.
He has previously said that his eldest children will take over business operations.”*
