"U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro's torrent of opposition to President Donald Trump's plans to cut education programs during a congressional meeting took on new life when it was set to dark classical music and posted by the NowThis Politics Facebook page.
As of late Friday afternoon, 22 million had viewed the post with 22,000 commenting, many of them supporting the New Haven Democrat's denouncement delivered Wednesday to education Secretary Betsy DeVos of the administration's spending plan for next year as "cruel," "inhumane" and "heartless."
But what really made the video take off was DeLauro's fiery intensity. She vibrates with indignant outrage, punching the air at one point and telling DeVos, "We're none of us in here going to be hurt. We're going to be fine. Our kids and our grandkids are going to to be OK, but millions of kids around this country are going to suffer what has been done with a $9.2 billion cut to our education programs which are supposed to serve our youngsters, make sure they have a good future and bright future.””*
