"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell did the unthinkable on Monday, when he defended the lack of any Senate legislation by criticizing the “excessive expectations” of President Donald Trump. McConnell said:
“Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before. And I think he had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process. And so part of the reason I think people feel we’re underperforming is because too many artificial deadlines––unrelated to the reality of the complexity of legislating––may not have been fully understood.”
The old “best defense is a good offense” tactic, right? It’s as though McConnell is saying “It’s not me, it’s you that are wrong in expecting that we have legislation lined up after seven plus years of obstructing Obama and criticizing the ACA.””*
