"The set on “Fox and Friends” moved into damage control on Wednesday after reports that President Donald Trump told the widow of a fallen U.S. soldier that “he knew what he signed up for.”
Co-host Ainsley Earhardt chided the president’s armchair critics and U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.), who claimed Tuesday that she had heard the president’s call to the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson. Johnson was one of four special-services soldiers killed in Niger earlier this month.
“Out of all the things you want to complain about the president, this is not something you should be complaining about,” Earhardt said. “In my opinion because he called the family to say. ‘I’m really sorry, thank you for your sacrifice.’ She didn’t like the tone. She didn’t like the way he phrased one sentence. Do you really think the president was calling to condemn the family?””*
