“After the mass shooting in Las Vegas, expect Congress to battle over gun legislation that aims to both loosen and tighten restrictions. While there are dozens of gun-related bills introduced in Congress every year, we picked the three major pieces of legislation you'll want to keep track of.
SHARE Act
The bill you are most likely to hear about in the coming days is the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act, or SHARE Act. The National Rife Association-backed legislation includes several pro-gun provisions.
Garnering the most attention is a provision that would loosen restrictions on purchasing gun silencers, which are currently regulated under the National Firearms Act. By law, people who want a silencer must pay a $200 tax and go through a longer registration process that includes a criminal background check.
The NRA calls the gun silencer restrictions “expensive and excessive” and said that loosening the restrictions would help “protect the hearing” of hunters.”
