S01E01 - Education: A New Culture
In the early 1800s, Alexis de Tocqueville traveled from his home in France to the still young United States of America to observe and document the American way of life regarding the people's relation to their government. His observations were published in his 1835 book, Democracy in America. It goes without saying that much has happened since 1835; the publishings of Marx's "Communist Manifesto" and Darwins "Origin of Species", the industrial revolution, the progressive era and FDR's "New Deal", the Civil Rights Movement, LBJ's Great Society and the Technological Revolution to name just a few.
In this series, Chad O. Jackson analyzes from his perspective how the government operates and how the American people relate to their government in the modern day.
